Ha! I have those pics and know how to post them…
But I won’t.
Reading this is great. I actually came to these conclusions long ago, and struggled badly with the churches around here, the “NW Bible College” graduate mentality I saw prominently displayed there. But I realized that the condition is almost uniquely American. Read the story of the rich young ruler. Many parallels. I also take heart in knowing that even the most “relevant” rich young ruler can be salvaged by the power of the Word through the revelation of the Holy Spirit.
Question for all us is: will we REALLY die to ourselves and take up our cross and follow him?
Every day is a new battle with self. Fight the good fight….
Thanks for sharing. I’m glad I wasn’t the only one that realized I was living a shell of a Christian life.

Please don’t post pictures of the sweater vests. Even Justin Timberlake has been forgiven for the 90s. Can’t I get the same grace? But those pale in comparison with the pics my parents have laying around. Here’s hoping they never figure out how to scan and post to the interwebs…

Dang, Arnold, I agree with every word you wrote and wish you lived near us. We are surrounded by relevant Christians who have forgotten that powerful little thing called THE GOSPEL.

So many anemic Christians feeding themselves with gospel lite candy bars instead of the BREAD OF LIFE.
